Situé à Duhamel-Ouest, aux abords du lac Témiscamingue, le lieu historique national d’Obadjiwan–Fort-Témiscamingue vous fera découvrir l’organisation spatiale des bâtiments et le mode de vie qui prévalait au poste de traite du fort Témiscamingue à l’époque de la Compagnie de la Baie d’Hudson (1840-1880).
Le poste de traite a été établi par les autorités de la Nouvelle-France en 1720. Ce site, qui a joué un rôle important dans l’histoire régionale, permet d’en apprendre à la fois sur la présence des Anishinabeg depuis six millénaires et les rivalités entre marchands de fourrures durant 200 ans.
La forêt enchantée, composée de plusieurs thuyas occidentaux, sont tordus et âgés d’environ 150 ans. Ils offrent aux visiteurs un paysage fascinant et mystérieux. Profitez également de la plage de galets qui est fort appréciée des visiteurs
Located in Duhamel-Ouest, on the shores of Lake Témiscamingue, the Obadjiwan–Fort-Témiscamingue National Historic Site invites you to discover the spatial organization of the buildings and the way of life that prevailed at the Témiscamingue trading post during the Hudson’s Bay Company era (1840–1880).
The trading post was established by the authorities of New France in 1720. This site, which played an important role in the region's history, offers visitors the opportunity to learn about the presence of the Anishinabeg people for over six millennia, as well as the rivalries between fur traders over a period of 200 years.
The enchanting forest, composed of numerous twisted eastern white cedars approximately 150 years old, offers visitors a fascinating and mysterious landscape. You can also enjoy the pebble beach, which is very popular with visitors.
